Anglers should recognize the fossil fish variety Priscacara as resembling a modern bass. The Green River Formation Lagerstätte has produced this fine example, featuring a single fossil fish measuring 5.5 inches (14 cm), from tip to tail. The dark fossil rests in a mottled matrix of sedimentary rock with some textural attributes and layering. The expertly prepared fossil fish has a sunfish-like body and pronounced spines.
