DescriptionFOSSIL FISH WITH PALM LEAF FRAGMENT
Knightia sp., Sabalities sp.
Green River Formation, Kemmerer, Wyoming
From near the former shoreline of one of the great lakes that made up the Green River Formation 55 million years ago; this association piece features a fish next to part of a palm leaf. The presence of palm leaves is evidence that the climate of the Rocky Mountain region was wetter, warmer, and more tropical than it is today. The fish has been professionally prepared to bring out the fine details of its bone structure and measures 4 ¼ inches long, the matrix on which it sits measures 10 x 5 ¾ inches.
Estimate: $300 - $500.
