Priscacara liops & Knightia eocaena
    Eocene, Green River Formation
    Lincoln County, Wyoming, USA

This decorative piece of natural art is unique for several reasons. First, the basic component is a slab of rock with fossil fish on both sides. One side with a stunning golden hue features two Knightia eocaena of varying size, and the other with a rather muted tan coloration, shows one Priscacara liops and also shows an enigmatic outline of a small fish that has not been prepared, adding a secret bonus to this aesthetic, two-sided, multi-fish assemblage. The larger Knightia eocaena is a stout 6.75 inches (17.15 cm) long, while its companion measures 3.25 inches (8.25 cm) in length. The single Priscacara liops on the "reverse" side measures a healthy 4.25 inches (10.80 cm) - good sized for this species. The rock has been drilled to fit a solid custom metal base for displaying both sides of the fossil piece. The slab fits on a metal rod and swivels, so it can easily be turned from one side to the other while stationary. The unusually thick block has a natural, free-form shape which adds to the ruggedness of the fossil. This is a classy way to show a fossil from the venerable Green River Formation, so well-known for its fossil fish.
    Overall Measurements: 13 x 4 x 17 inches (33.02 x 10.16 x 43.18 cm)
