Fossil Fish Sculpture on Steel Base
    Priscacara liops and Knightia eocaena
    Eocene, Green River Formation
    Lincoln County, Wyoming, USA

Fine fossil fish specimens from the famous Green River Formation in Wyoming are some of the more prevalent and attractive vertebrate fossils from North America. When a piece really has something special to offer, which comes about as a result of a thoughtful design concept, a work of natural art will be the reward. Here a free-form block of sedimentary rock has been mounted on a custom steel base allowing it to swivel, which is important given that both sides of the tan granular matrix have fossil fish embedded in it. The more rugged mottled side features a large and very well preserved Priscacara liops, measuring 4.5 inches (11.4 cm), with a rich, dark brown and black coloration. The smoother layered side shows a narrow Knightia eocaena, some 3.75 inches (9.5 cm), which is also dark and well preserved. This sculpture is a great way to display fossil fish specimens using natural rock from the quarry in which such fossils are found. It is a substantial "statement piece" but reasonable enough in size to be displayed almost anywhere. This piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
    Overall Measurements: 14.1 x 4.0 x 18.8 inches (35.9 x 10.2 x 47.6 cm)
