Description
Fossil Fish PlateMioplosus sp.
Eocene
Green River Formation
Lincoln County, Kemmerer, Wyoming, USA
Out of a quarry in the famed Green River Formation Lagerstätte, this fossil fish represents the relatively rare variety Mioplosus and measures a substantial 13.5 inches (34 cm) from its tip to its tail. A beautiful example evidencing expert restoration and preparation, this offering is dark brownish in coloration and rests at an ideal angle on a relatively contrastingly stark matrix of sedimentary rock. The fossil remnant exhibits considerable dimensionality with a raised vertebral column and other bony material sticking up from the otherwise flat and mottled background rock. Each edge measures a bit over 15 inches (39 cm).
Overall Measurements: 15.55 x 15.35 x 0.47 inches (39.50 x 39.00 x 1.20 cm)
