    Description

    Fossil Fish Plate
    Gyrodus circularis & Mesolimulus walchi
    Jurassic
    Solnhofen Limestone
    Eichstatt, Germany

It is difficult to decide what aspect of this incredible fossil offering is most significant. While the entirety of the rocky plate is bordered in a thick and an attractive banding of dendritic material, which serves to act as a frame for the nearly circular fossil fish and fossil "horseshoe" crab artistically positioned on this lovely sedimentary rock. From the Solnhofen Lagerstätte in Germany, this amazing specimen features a duo of phenomenal fossils from a classic locality, which may be limited in terms of export in the future. The Gyrodus fossil fish exhibits a mottled appearance with a large eye "socket" and measures 6 inches (15 cm) in length. The Mesolimulus fossil "horseshoe" crab recessed into the matrix is a yellowish hue and measures 6 inches (15 cm) from tip to tail as well. This is an exquisite display piece for any décor.
    Overall Measurements: 26.38 x 25.67 x 0.59 inches (67.00 x 65.20 x 1.50 cm)

    Provenance: Central Coast Collection
