Fossil Fish Mural Trio
Diplomystus dentatus, Knightia eocaena and Cockerellites liops
    Green River Formation
    Wyoming, USA

This "triptych" of fossil fish murals from the Green River Formation is really both art and fossil. With an incredible and impactful decorative appeal, this trio of panels full of "life" from ancient times are really magnificent. The multi-colored, mottled and thinly layered matrix rock hosts ten individual fossil fish in abstract motion. The focal example is the large Diplomystus, measuring a substantial 18 inches (45 cm), on the first panel which appears to be stalking a school of small Cockerellites scattered across all three sections. A single but rather sizable Knightia dives away from the larger predator rounding out the set. Each geometric mural is 48 inches (122 cm) tall and 24 inches (61 cm) wide and backed with a beveled wood reinforcement. The pieces have a cleat system for wall hanging and a Certificate of Authenticity.
    Overall Measurements: 48.00 x 24.00 x 1.25 inches (121.92 x 60.96 x 3.17 cm)

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
