Description
Fossil Fish MuralPhareodus encaustus, Mioplosus sp. & Knightia sp.
Eocene
Green River Formation
Wyoming, USA
This type of fossil mural is inlaid, but that 'manufactured' aspect is exactly what can result in really impactful and artistic works like this enormous piece. The framed sedimentary matrix out of the famous renowned Green River Formation quarries is just beautiful, with numerous colors represented and many "varves" visible. Of course, it is the grouping of Fossil Fish that makes this such a decorative wonder. The rare and larger predatory variety known as Phareodus is the dominant member of this aquatic play, and an uncommon and sizable Mioplosus, as well as several lesser sized Knightia, round out the 'cast' of this prehistoric marine diorama. The framed offering is fully ready for wall installation and will definitely get looks and comments in any room, office, or space in which it is featured. The elongated mural is a piece of art with a significant story to tell. The fossils are authentic and spectacular, fully prepared by experts, offering a cool snapshot of what underwater life was like in Wyoming during the Eocene Epoch.
