This fossil fish from the famous Green River Formation in Wyoming is an impressive example of well-known and popular Knightia of the extinct genus. Measuring 6.22 inches (15.8 cm) from tip to tail, the dark blackish-brown fossil features a pronounced vertebral column and finer preservation over the entirety of the percid member. Standing in stark contrast to its mottled grayish matrix, the skeleton is nicely situated in the center of the rectangular rock in somewhat of a subtle diving position. Large and equally visually impactful, the statement piece represents an intriguing variety of fossil fish from an iconic locality.
