This larger fossil fish from the Green River Formation Lagerstätte is a classic representation of the variety Diplomystus which boasts an extremely artistic natural form. The dark fossil exhibits fine preservation of the bony skeleton and a rich coloration in wonderful contrast to its lighter host rock. The unique feature of the fish, measuring 16 inches (41 cm) long, is its downward turned tail. A small Knightia is also visible.
