Presented on a wood and metal pin base, this odd-looking bone is actually a fossilized vertebra from an ancient billfish. From North Carolina known for producing numerous varieties of marine fossils, this one is well-preserved and dark in color, with a prominent process giving the prehistoric bone a "check mark" shape. The complex nature of the specialized vertebra coupled with the fine condition make this special.
