This well-preserved Trilobite of the genus Calymene comes from the Silurian deposits near Grafton, Illinois. The fossil displays the genus's characteristic tightly segmented exoskeleton and distinctively arched form, features that earned Calymene the nickname "the rolled Trilobite." Fine details of the thoracic segments and pygidium remain clear, accentuated by the light-toned Limestone matrix. Measuring several centimeters across, this attractive specimen represents one of the Midwest's classic Paleozoic fossils. Calymene Trilobites are highly regarded for their symmetry and compact shape, making this example a fine addition to any fossil collection.
