Description
Fossil StarfishPetraster sp.
Oligocene
Kaid Rami
Morocco
9.37 x 5.88 x 0.63 inches (23.80 x 14.94 x 1.60 cm)
Five beautifully defined arms radiate across the Limestone matrix of this beautifully preserved Petraster starfish, creating an instantly recognizable and visually balanced fossil display. Fine texture along the arms and central disc remains clearly visible and gives the specimen remarkable dimensionality despite the compressed preservation. The dark coloration of the starfish contrasts beautifully against the lighter stone background and draws attention to the intricate surface detail preserved throughout the fossil. Natural positioning within the matrix gives the specimen an elegant, almost sculptural presentation that stands apart from more typical marine fossils. Both visually engaging and scientifically fascinating, this well-preserved starfish offers an appealing glimpse into ancient marine ecosystems.
Estimate: $500 - up.
