Description
Theropod Dinosaur ToothCarcharodontosaurus saharicus
Late Cretaceous
Tegana Formation, Kem Kem Basin
Sahara Desert, Morocco
Teeth are an extremely important and highly collectible variety of fossil. Examples from major predators are some of the most coveted, and anything "Dinosaur" is always in high demand. This specimen, out of the Late Cretaceous deposits of the famous Kem Kem Basin, in the Sahara Desert of Morocco, measures well over 4 inches (10 cm), of which an amazing 3 inches (7.6 cm) is well-preserved enamel. The curved representation of theropod dentition boasts fairly nice and sharp serrations. Once belonging to the huge Carcharodontosaurus, one of the longest and heaviest of all the carnivorous dinosaurs, this example is in good condition with a pleasing golden-brown color and subtle striations to its slick faces above the root.
Measurements: 4.37 x 1.40 x 0.81 inches (11.10 x 3.56 x 2.07 cm)
