Description

Sauropod Dinosaur Rib Bone
Diplodocus sp.
Jurassic
Morrison Formation
Big Horn Basin, Wyoming, USA

There is a natural inclination that all things Dinosaur should be inherently big, and this is one piece that will not disappoint. The specimen represents an entire rib from Diplodocus dating to the Jurassic out of the Morrison Formation. The elongated bone actually evidences relatively minimal restoration and even displays one fused break that likely happened during the lifetime of the creature. It is rare to find entire bones, and this has had minor crack fill and some secondary repairs as long, curved bones tend to break from time to time. This dark brown beauty features an artistic shape, one outstanding "knuckle" on the flared end which gives the fossil remnant a great deal of character, and considerable size measuring 45 inches (114 cm) in length. The prehistoric rib clearly came from a large beast and, in this case, Dinosaur.
Overall Measurements: 45.28 x 9.06 x 2.76 inches (115.00 x 23.00 x 7.00 cm)
