LARGE SCUNTHORPE AMMONITE

This ammonite is from the Frodingham Ironstone Quarry, a classic United Kingdom site that has been closed for many years. The ammonite has been polished to show distinct brown suture lines contrasting on the white calcite body of the ammonite. The specimen has been polished to bring out the beautiful patterns, but sections of the original ribbing are left intact in the interior whorls. The fine ammonite measures 4 ¾ x 6 inches and sits on its original matrix measuring 6 x 8 x 3 inches.
