    Description

    Ammonite Fossil
    Placenticeras meeki
    Late Cretaceous
    Pierre Shale Formation
    South Dakota, USA

This is a truly spectacular Placenticeras Ammonite from the renowned Pierre Shale which is both visually stunning and immensely considerable in size. With an absolutely gorgeous patterning of complex suture lines over the entirety of its two display surfaces, this is both a collectible specimen as well as a superbly decorative piece. Presented in an "old school" wooden Sunnywood base with a metal swivel mechanism on the bottom, this huge specimen measuring over 14 inches (35.5 cm) offers two primary display faces. The size, quality and sutures combine to make this an incredible fossil. The only drawback in terms of its condition is one repaired section on the curved edge of the shell that has been reattached then expertly incorporated into the natural 'perfect' form of the "Finbonacci Fossil" as the Ammonites are considered.
    Overall Measurements: 14.17 x 11.02 x 3.54 inches (36.00 x 28.00 x 9.00 cm)

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
