This Ammonite is perched atop a grayish mountain of matrix that has been brushed to shape. The brown fossil is well preserved with lots of shell nacre, which includes some colorful iridescent highlights of green and red. From the famed Fox Hills Formation in South Dakota, this Hoploscaphites has peripheral bumps.
