Description
Ammolite FossilPlacenticeras sp.
Cretaceous
Bearpaw Formation
Alberta, Canada
3.07 x 2.73 x 0.67 inches (7.81 x 6.93 x 1.71 cm)
This striking Ammolite specimen preserves the central spiral of a prehistoric Ammonite, offering a rare and visually compelling glimpse into the heart of the shell. Broad panels of vibrant red, fiery orange, electric green, and flashes of blue display exceptional color play across the surface, arranged in a natural mosaic defined by dark organic seams. The spiral form remains clearly legible and draws the eye inward, anchoring the composition and emphasizing the fossil's original structure. Subtle surface texture and natural fracturing enhance the depth and movement of the colors without diminishing their intensity. This vivid Ammolite specimen stands out as a dramatic and highly desirable example of fossilized shell transformed into a gemstone-quality display piece.
