    Description

    Set of Pelycosaur "Hand/Manus" Bones
    Dimetrodon milleri
    Early Permian
    Moran Formation
    Archer County, Texas, USA

Predating the heyday of the dinosaurs by over some 200 million years, Pelycosaurs from the Permian were predatory creatures with characteristic sail-fins on their backs. The Synapsids were very unique with respect to the appearance and lifestyle and have left behind some unusual fossils like this set of bones forming a manus ("hand"). The appendage is composited with real bones from multiple beasts out of a classic Texas locality. Only two metacarpals are not actual bone and were 3-D printed based from another hand. All individual pieces are the proper size, and the overall specimen is anatomically correct. This batch of earthy colored fossilized bones includes curved claw-like phalanges at the ends.
    Overall Measurements: 6.00 x 3.50 x 0.50 inches (15.24 x 8.89 x 1.28 cm)

[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
