    Description

    Ichthyosaur Mortality Plate
    Temnodontosaurus
    Jurassic
    Lyme Regis, Dorset, England

This mortality plate is an incredible association of Ichthyosaur bones, including a prominent skull with numerous post-cranial bones including vertebrae and ribs. The amazingly preserved bony material is a pleasing chocolate brown color that looks wonderful in contrast to the gray conglomerate matrix rock. The background is natural, and the specimen appears to have been stabilized but, otherwise, shows no visible signs of restoration. The rock has a cleat system on the back for wall hanging, and there is not an ounce of doubt this will be the focal piece and conversation starter in any room, décor or environment.
    Overall Measurements: 60.98 x 34.76 x 3.50 inches (154.90 x 88.30 x 8.90 cm)

Phillips, New York, June 8, 1996 (lot 348)
