Nagar Dist., Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
Pink Fluorites are among the most coveted in the world. This is an excellent example from the Nagar District pegmatites in the Himalaya Mountain Range, a classic locality in Pakistan. Saturated pink Fluorites are expected from Switzerland; however, the Pakistani pegmatites have produced world-class pink Fluorites like this one. This fine, large octahedron is gemmy throughout with very good luster displaying low-profile, triangular, parallel growth features on all of the crystal faces resulting in a subtle geometric pattern on all of the octahedral faces. It has a rich, uniform pink color all the way through. The specimen is sharp and complete all-around save for contacting at the bottom where it was removed from the pocket, formerly in the private collection of Herb Obodda # 3294, sold in 2008. Pink Fluorites of this size from ANY locality are rare, and from Pakistan especially so. This incredible offering comes with a custom engraved lucite base.
