    This drawing is particularly significant since it demonstrates the careful planning Max Ernst used as preparatory studies for his first collage-painting illustrating his poems collection, Répétition. This drawing is for Invention, one of the collections of poems by Paul Eluard.

    Condition Report*:

    Overall slight to moderate paper discoloration throughout; a few minor spots of light surface soiling, mostly along edges; some scattered crimps to paper; faint possible water stains, visible in flowers near center bottom, as well as along the extreme right edge. This work is separate from its matted and glassed frame. Framed Dimensions 15 X 17 Inches
