    Kelly Fearing returned from Columbia University in New York to Fort Worth and joined with other modernist artist to create the Fort Worth Circle. There he established himself as a surrealist and mystical naturalist artist. While continuing to create his own art, Fearing taught at the University of Texas at Austin from the foundation of the art department to his retirement in 1987. Always experimenting, Fearing often used mixed media or varying textures to add depth to his surrealist and magical works that are surrounded in both symbolism and unexpected touches.
