PROVENANCE:
(Possibly) Christie's, South Kensington, March 14, 1979, lot 272.
Condition Report*:
Wax-lined canvas, with a cloth cover.
Under UV light there is a 1 x 3/4in area of inpaint in the forearm of the man's sleeve. There are a few touches of inpaint to craquelure in both faces and there appear to be some touches of strengthening in the branches in background. The blue scarf fluoresces but that appears to be due to pigment.
