    He studied at the Odessa School of Art, and in 1903 was granted a scholarship that allowed him to move to the Imperial Academy in Petersburg without taking any further exams. He returned to Odessa during the First World War and immigrated to Serbia in 1920, where he became a professor in the Belgrade Academy of Arts. His works are among the collections of the Russian Museum, Tretyakov Gallery, and many other provincial museums.
