    More Information: Painter, muralist, and lithographer.  Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Hermann Volz spent his formative years learning from his grandfather, a master craftsman in the decorative arts and also at various institutes of art throughout Europe, including the Academy of Fine Art in Vienna.  In 1933, he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area.  Volz's lithographs of this period mainly reflected social and political themes; his paintings are representational and abstract.  He worked in Hollywood as a scenic artist and a technical director and then moved to San Jose, where he maintained his home and studio until his death in 1990. His work can be found in the San Diego Museum of Art and The Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    Condition Report*: Possible abrasions to the upper right corner and the left edge along the car.  A possible pinhole at the upper left corner.  Otherwise in very good condition.
