    A native Roman, Signorini enjoyed tremendous popularity as a spirited watercolorist and fine oil painter both in Italy and France, where he lived for 33 years. He trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome under Aurelio Tiratelli. A painter known equally well for his genre scenes and interiors with meticulously detailed figures, fabrics, and furnishings, Signorini earned considerable celebrity for the scenes of North Africa he exhibited in France at the Salon des Artistes Fran├žais. His Orientalist subjects gained him recognition, including a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1900.
