    Condition Report*:

    Re-varnished panel with slight 2" vertical crack above man's head and vertical crack with paint loss in the right quadrants, running through the background and through the sitter's coat; small paint chip on man's left cheek and scattered areas of abraded varnish on his left eye, cheek, and beard; under UV examination, areas of in-painting consistent with earlier restoration (12 x 3" along right edge, 6 x 2" to the right of man's face, and 12 x 5" along lower left edge) and areas consistent with new restoration (along lower edge, along 2 panel seams, and scattered flecks in man's coat, collar, beard, and face); frame dimensions:  33 x 26.5".
