    Condition Report*:

Both portraits have been relined with a water-based glue. The portrait of William Fielding was possibly cleaned around the eyes, and lace collar. Some strengthening to the upper right corner and right of the figure. The portrait of Susan Villiers shows scattered strenghthening to the upper portion of the canvas and to the right of the figure and craquelure. Both have thick, old varnish. The pair are framed in ornate carved wood frames with minor losses.
