New York born artist William Gropper was a painter and cartoonist who focused on social concerns and was actively engaged in the organized labor movement throughout his career. His artwork is housed in important public collections, including the Phoenix Art Museum, Smithsonian American Art Museum, Newark Museum, Brooklyn Art Museum, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
