    Gladys Wiles is the daughter of artist Irving Ramsey Wiles (1861-1948) and the granddaughter of Lemuel Wiles (1826-1905). In addition to studying with her father, Wiles was trained under the guidance of Kenyon Cox and William Merritt Chase.

    Wax-lined canvas; minor frame wear along tope extreme edge; faint stretcher creases along edges; light craquelure in bottom half of composition; stable surface; under UV exam, there appear to be 2 lines of inpainting near the top of girl's skirt, and multiple lines and dots of inpainting in negatives space in upper right quadrant, all approx. 2 inches long or smaller.  Framed Dimensions 52 X 37 Inches
