    First Annual Exhibition Los Angeles County Museum, Los Angeles, May 15th - June 25th 1940, no.19, awarded first prize (label verso).

    Elwood Fordham was a student of Thomas Hart Benton during the latter's tenure at the Kansas City Art Institute (1935-1941).
