    Quenton, 1995
    Watercolor on paper
    20 x 26 inches (50.8 x 66.0 cm)
Signed and dated top left: 1995 SS Young

The contemporary artist Stephen Scott Young is best known for his stunningly realistic watercolors depicting the familiar people and architecture of Florida and the Bahamas. Young grew up in St. Augustine, Florida, where his young neighbors, Quenton and Andre, became subjects for many of his works. The still beauty of Quenton contains strong emotional undercurrents that are intensified by the contrast of the figure's downcast eyes and crossed arms against a tumultuous dark background mixed with fiery reds and electric blues.

    Estimate: $30,000 - $50,000.
