German born artist, Edmund Kinzinger was trained in Munich and Paris before serving in World War I. While teaching in Munich after the war, Kinzinger met and married Alice Fish, an American. Through her influence, the artist taught at the Minneapolis Art Institute in 1928. After a brief jaunt in Taxco in 1930, Kinzinger returned to Germany but quickly immigrated to the United States fleeing the Nazis. The artist taught at Baylor University in Waco for 13 years. Struggling with depression, Kinzinger stopped painting altogether in 1947 until his death in 1960. Edmund Kinzinger's modernist geometric style is similar to famed Texas artist Bror Utter.
