Description

LARGE TRICERATOPS TOOTH
Triceratops horridus
Cretaceous, Maastrichtian Stage
Hell Creek Formation, Wyoming

With their three-horned skull and four-legged tankard body; the Triceratops was a well defended herbivore that roamed the late Cretaceous. Possessing the largest skull of any known land animal, the Triceratops could use its skull and horns to knock down plants that it shredded using its beak and rows of replaceable chewing teeth. This tooth is from a large Triceratops and is in great condition with no restoration; it has a textured chewing surface and a long root. The tooth measures 2 ¼ inch tall, ¾ inch across the face, and 1 ¼ deep.
