CARNIVOROUS DINOSAUR TOOTH

Mid-Cretaceous, Albian Age
Kem-Kem Basin, South of Taouz, K'Sar es Souk Province, Morocco
This is a small but beautifully formed tooth from the mouth of one of the most fearsome predators ever to walk the Earth. Long thought to be the largest of all carnosaurs on the basis of its elongated skull, the Carcharodontosaurus has not captured the popular imagination in the same way as the T-Rex or even the sail-backed Spinosaur, but its teeth nonetheless remain highly collectible. The present specimen has a gorgeously consistent orange-brown patina across the enamel, with excellent serrations, measuring 2 3/8 inches long around the curve and 15/16 inches wide at the base.
