RAPTOR HAND CLAW

Private ranch, Hell Creek Formation, north of Baker, Montana
Dromeosaurus albertensis was the type species for this dinosaur, the first of these late, bird-like Theropods were found in Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta, Canada. The claws of these animals were interesting: running swiftly and bird-like on three-toed feet, they kept one toe raised markedly from the ground, which bore an unusual curved claw like the one here. This example has some minor restoration towards the tip and measures 3¼ inches over the curve. As the dromeosaurus was only about the size of a wolf, this is a large claw for this species.
