DescriptionA NAPOLEON III-STYLE GILT BRONZE MANTLE CLOCK, late 19th century
23 x 20-1/2 x 7-1/2 inches (58.4 x 52.1 x 19.1 cm)
The gilt bronze with eight day time and strike movement and having blue enamel Roman numerals to dial, supported by pair of amphora held on the shoulders of two classically draped women, one holding a trident and fish, the second other holding a bird, both standing on a shaped base with a grotesque mask to the center, with feather and shell decoration to base, resting on alternating toupie and claw feet.
Estimate: $2,500 - $3,500.
The trident is bent, minor rubbing to gilt, surface scratches commensurate with age. Holes have been drilled to the back of the figures. Currently not in running order, works appear complete. Heritage does not guarantee the working order of the clock mechanism.
