    A Pair of German Brass, Iron, and Wood Model Signal Cannons, circa 1790
    Marks to both: H.N.5.; H.N.6.
    7-3/4 h x 21-1/2 w x 8-1/2 d inches (19.7 x 54.6 x 21.6 cm) (each)

    PROVENANCE:
    Thomas Del Mar, London, Antique Arms, Armour & Militaria, 24 June 2015, Lot 479.
    The pair of cannons each having tapering multi-stage barrel formed with a stepped moulding at the muzzle, raised astragal moldings, vents with raised circular surrounds, pair of finely chiseled dolphin lifting handles, pair of trunnions chased with scrolls, moulded cascables drawn-out to a conical button: each on its iron-clad wooden field carriage painted in red and black, fitted with a pair of iron-shod spoked cambered wheels, the cheeks fitted with hooks and chains, original painted finish throughout.



    Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000.

    Condition Report*: Light nicking and pitting to the brass cannon, some elements possibly later, loss of paint and wear indicative of age and use to the frame.
