Condition Report*: The mixed media object depicting a body print body of the artist with elements of published media, stencil, color pencil, and a fragment of an American flag is in good condition overall. There are moderate planar distortions in the lower third of the mat board segment. There is a strong tide line visible in the lower edge of the flag as well as some minor discoloration in the upper portion of the white stripe. The red and blue dyes of the flag show irregular fading throughout. There are minor scuffmarks on the flag element approximately 16 ½ inches from the lower edge. This is possibly due to wear previous to its use in the composition. The primary mat board support has a torn edge in the upper region to the right of the artist's head. This is not considered deterioration but part of the artist's working technique and accepted as part of the composition. The ink, color pencil, and watercolor media are in stable condition throughout. The edge of the mat board support is painted with a red acrylic medium up to the shoulder of the figure; the remaining edge of the board support is untreated. A varnish has been spray applied over the surface of the mat board support. The artist has gone back in some regions and reworked media over the surface of the varnish with pastel pencil and graphite. The varnish does not appear discolored. There is some minor discoloration visible in the lower edge of the mat board possible due to contact with water. The tide line is slightly visible under strong illumination and extends along the lower edge approximately 1-3/4 inches into the image diminishing to 1 inch near the right edge of the mat board element. There were no visible tide lines or indications of contact with water on the frame or backing papers. It is possible that contact with the water occurred prior to installation in the frame. There is some minor discoloration visible near the edge of the mat board element where the object is covered by the rabbet of the frame. Framed Dimensions 41.125 X 31.125 Inches
