Chengmenshan Mine, Jiujiang Co.
The Coppers from China look like they have been "hit" with acid but have actually been formed naturally coming out as incredibly iridescent specimens. Literally, pulled from the conveyor belt by a miner on the way to being crushed and melted into ore in 2018, pieces from that single fortuitous find did not make it to the crusher. Visual standouts for both color and brilliance, examples like this sizable representation of the metallic mineral are special and beautiful. Presented on a custom engraved acrylic base, this mineral rises over 6 inches (15 cm) and is quite robust and dimensional albeit somewhat delicate and fragile. The luster is intense, and a myriad of colorful hues are featured on the form, including orange, gold, red, and silver. The sharp and jagged edges of the material are visible all the way around the dimensional cluster.
