This specimen of tree resin is likely from Colombia and, while it might be Amber, Copal is a safe bet, and this piece could likely still date back 20 million years. The light, yellowish coloration, supreme clarity and numerous inclusions make it an object of interest, and such Colombian material is often referred to as a hybrid Amber/Copal as a consensus has seemingly yet to be reached regarding this type of unique resin. Whether "immature Amber" or not, the hardened substance is ancient in age and efficient at the trapping of insect inclusions. This piece weighs a stout 27 grams and is a permanent home to a variety of insects as well as various other components of detritus and even some bubbles associated with the 'old' arthropods.
