Description

Quartz (Japan Law Twin) with Arsenopyrite
Chicote Grande Mine, Chicote Grande, Inquisivi Province, La Paz, Bolivia
16.1 x 13.2 x 4.4 cm (6.34 x 5.20 x 1.73 in)

This cabinet-sized plate presents a striking assemblage of prismatic and tabular Quartz crystals, including several well-defined Japan law twins, from the Chicote Grande Mine. A particularly attractive Japan law-twinned Quartz crystal is cleanly isolated near the center of the specimen, serving as a natural focal point. The Quartz is white to colorless and highly transparent, providing strong contrast against the robust, silvery metallic crystals of Arsenopyrite scattered across the central portion of the piece. A handful of minor Siderite associations are isolated throughout the forest of Quartz crystals.

From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
Ex. Lawrence and Virginia Heiner collection.

More Information: This piece is in excellent condition with one surficial crevice near the center of the display, which poses no threat to the structural integrity of the piece, and minor bruising on a few terminations.
