    AN ANSONIA SPELTER AND GILT BRONZE SWING-ARM CLOCK AFTER LOUIS AND FRANCOIS MOREAU: L'IMMORTALITE
    Design after Louis and Francois Moreau (French, 19th century)
    Manufactured by Ansonia Clock Company, New York, New York, circa 1870-1890
    Marks to bronze: L&F MOREAU, (foundry mark)
    28 inches high (71.1 cm)

    The double patinated spelter clock depicting an angel holding a tablet inscribed LE GENIE A POUR SON DOMAIN L'IMMORTALITE, or "the domain of genius is immortality" and a clock in front of a classically dressed mortal holding a laurel wreath and reaching for allegorical time, the gilt bronze clock on a swing arm from the angel's hand, on a faux marble base.
