    A French Empire Gilt Bronze-Mounted Amboyna Veneered Portico Clock, early 19th century
    18-1/4 x 10-1/4 x 5-5/8 inches (46.4 x 26.0 x 14.3 cm)

    The portico clock featuring a rich amboyna veneer, with arched pediment above the mechanism concealed behind an enameled face with five hands that show the minute, hour, day of the week, day of the month, and month, all indicated in French, encircled by gilt bronze bezel decorated with anthemion, all supported by four round columns with gilt bronze bases and capitals atop a cuboid plinth on four gilt bronze bun feet.

    Condition Report*: Overall very good condition, with capitals of front two columns slightly misaligned as a result of production, repaired chip to veneer on top of dome, scattered marks to enameled face, a few scattered surface scratches to veneer, some scattered surface scratches and toning to gilt bronze mounts, a few pits and general fine surface scratches to pendulum, with wear commensurate to age and use.
