A Ferdinand Barbedienne Louis XV-Style Figural Three Graces Gilt Bronze Clock After Germain Pilon on a Giltwood Pedestal, France, mid-late 19th centuryMarks: F. Barbedienne Fondeur, (REDUCTION MECANIQUE-profile)
86-3/4 x 24 inches (220.3 x 61.0 cm) (overall, including base)
The clock with bun-shaped urn with beaded band interspersed with swag and rams' heads terminating on tripod fish-form feet each balanced on the heads of figural Three Graces, resting on a base of foliate, swag, putti, and paw-form motifs symmetrically framing the clock face, atop capital with keystone pattern frieze, above a concave three-sided pedestal with C-scroll and foliate motifs and graduated stepped base.
Condition Report*:
Overall scratches, flakes, and losses to gilt especially to body of pedestal and corners, urn-form to head of Three Graces is loose. Heritage does not guarantee the working order or completeness of clock mechanisms.
