    Charles Pebworth was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and grew to have a central role in the Houston and Huntsville, Texas art communities. After serving in the Air Force during World War II, Charles Pebworth attended the Art Center School in Los Angeles, Pasadena City College, Baylor University, University of Oklahoma, and Louisiana State University. The artist taught for thirty-six years at Sam Houston State University where he influenced numerous artists including James Surls and Andy Don Emmons. Pebworth is known for his metal reliefs, paintings, and sculptures which reference the Natural World and Native American imagery.
