Six Mintons Partial Gilt Pâte-sur-Pâte Porcelain Dessert Plates, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, circa 1882
Marks: (crown-over-globe) MINTONS, T. GOODE & CO., LONDON, (incised MINTONS, date mark)
Marks to pâte-sur-pâte: LB; AB; HH
9-1/2 inches diameter (24.1 cm)

The set of six plates having conforming design with gilt banded rims of crosses and quatrefoils in raised relief, inside to continuous gilt swag decoration, scattered gilt star embellishments to plate grounds, central individual pâte-sur-pâte motifs of putti in various settings (five with pâte-sur-pâte scenes framed in gilt ornamentation), decorator initials including LB, AB, HH, raised on round footed rims.

Note: Two plates with LB initials to pâte-sur-pâte denoting decoration by Lawrence Birks, three with AB denoting decoration by Albion Birks, one plate with HH denoting decoration by Henry Hollins. Plates with impressed MINTONS and date marks (some obscured).
