A Nazca Terracotta Kero c. 350 - 400 AD

A tall pottery kero in shades of red, orange, white, brown, and beige, the thin-walled cylindrical form with rounded base, in slightly corseted form, painted in four bands. The upper register is an abstract step pattern, followed by a supernatural creature, and a row of trophy heads. The lower register features a female face with curved eyebrows, diamond-shaped eyes, and cheek decorations that may be interpreted as teardrops, lower lashes, face paint, or tattoos. An abstract stick figure is on the back.
